🦉 About FittestOwl
FittestOwl is a free learning-games site for kids, families and classrooms — and for grown-ups who like a challenge. It started with a weekly spelling bee and has grown into a set of short, replayable challenges that practise real skills: spelling, vocabulary and grammar, mental math, memory and focus, Bible verses, logic puzzles and classic strategy games.
What you can do here
- Weekly challenges. Every Monday a new set of Spelling, Math, Flash, Memory and Bible challenges starts, with a live leaderboard for each level. Everyone gets a fair, timed round.
- Practice at your own pace. Pick a subject and level and play as many rounds as you like, with progress charts showing how you improve over days, weeks and months.
- Live rooms and 1v1. Play friends or anyone online in real time, in a quiz room or in one of the board games.
- Games. A daily Sudoku, Tetris, 2048 and Snake with high-score boards, and board games — Tic-Tac-Toe, Connect Four, Checkers, Reversi, Gomoku, Mancala and Dots & Boxes — against the computer or other players.
- Learn. Short guides to spelling rules, commonly confused words, mental math, memory techniques and game strategy, each paired with a game to practise it.
Fair play
Every score on a leaderboard is checked by our server. Answers are marked on the server, timed rounds use the server's clock, and in arcade games like Tetris and 2048 the browser sends the moves you made — not a score — and the server replays the game to work the score out. That keeps the rankings honest for everyone.
Made with children in mind
- You play with a nickname. We never ask for a real name, and the site suggests fun nicknames so nobody needs to use one.
- No sign-up form, email or password is needed to play. Linking a Google account is optional, just for keeping your progress across devices.
- There's no chat between players — only game invitations and results.
- Any ads are shown only to visitors who say they're 13 or older, never during a game, and are non-personalised. Children's browsers never load an ad script at all.
Read our privacy policy for the details of what we store and why.
Word lists and content
Spelling words are graded into easy, medium and hard, each with a meaning and an example sentence, and the lists are reviewed and corrected all the time — players can report a problem with any question, and every report is checked. Bible verses come from the public-domain King James Version.
